An astronomer, Hal Povenmire has worked on Project Mercury, Project Apollo. He has photographed over 2000 meteors and discovered the Upsilon Pagasid Meteor Shower. He has observed over 400 grazing occultations, 6 stellar occultations by asteroids and 11 total solar eclipses. He authored the books, "Graze Observer's Handbook", "Tektites: A Cosmic Enigma", and "Fireballs, Meteors and Meteorites."
